Terms of Service

Draft - requires legal review before production launch. These terms describe how the Founding Beta actually works today but have not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and should not be treated as final.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using myEdenry, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Founding Beta status

myEdenry is currently offered as a free public beta. During the beta:

  • The Service is provided “as is” without any uptime or availability guarantee.
  • Features, usage limits, and the recommendation engine may change at any time, including significant changes with limited notice.
  • No payment is required, and no subscription or paywall exists in the current app.
  • We intend to introduce a paid Pro tier in the future, at which point some currently-free advanced functionality may move behind that tier, as described on our Founding Beta page.

3. No guarantee of plant survival or accuracy

myEdenry provides recommendations, identifications, and diagnoses based on available data, weather providers, and AI processing. We make no guarantee that:

  • Following a recommendation will result in a healthy or surviving plant.
  • A plant identification is correct.
  • A diagnosis correctly identifies the cause of a plant health issue.
  • Toxicity, edibility, or pet-safety information shown for any plant is complete or current.

Plant identification and diagnosis outputs are shown with confidence indicators specifically because they are not certain. See our AI Safety page for important safety information.

4. Not professional advice

Nothing in myEdenry constitutes professional horticultural, agricultural, veterinary, or medical advice. For decisions with significant consequences - commercial growing, suspected plant poisoning of a person or pet, or any situation involving potential harm - consult a qualified professional, a veterinarian, or in the case of suspected poisoning, emergency medical or poison control services immediately.

5. Never rely solely on the app for consumption decisions

Never eat, feed to a pet, or otherwise consume any plant based solely on an identification or description shown in myEdenry. Wild or unknown plants can be toxic even when they closely resemble edible species, and our identification confidence, however high, is not a guarantee.

6. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information at signup and keep it up to date.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to access another user's garden data or account without authorization.
  • Abuse, automate, or excessively scrape AI-powered features beyond published usage limits.
  • Upload content that infringes another person's rights or that is unlawful, defamatory, or harmful.
  • Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract the underlying models or source code of the Service.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see Account Deletion). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in abuse of the Service, or pose a security risk to other users.

9. Intellectual property

The myEdenry name, branding, design, and application code are our property or that of our licensors. Your garden data, photos, and journal content remain yours; you grant us a limited license to process them solely to provide and improve the Service.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, myEdenry and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service, including but not limited to plant loss, crop loss, or reliance on any recommendation, identification, or diagnosis. This section is subject to legal review and may be revised before production launch to comply with applicable consumer protection law.

11. Changes to the Service and these terms

We may modify or discontinue features, and may update these terms, at any time during the beta. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email where practical.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. This section is a placeholder pending legal review of the appropriate jurisdiction and dispute resolution mechanism.
